What if something as simple as leaving an appliance plugged in or using more water than necessary could become a learning opportunity for kids?

Knowledge Channel’s newest educational series, “Enna You Know!”, is making environmental education more relatable for young learners by showing how everyday choices at home and in the community can have an impact on the planet.

Premiering September 16 on DepEd TV powered by Knowledge Channel, the four-episode series follows curious teenager Enna (Zavinna Badena) as she encounters different environmental concerns in her daily life. When she wants to understand what’s happening and what she can do about it, she turns to her older brother Geo (Benedix Ramos), a field-based environmental scientist.

Through their conversations and experiences, Enna and Geo explore the science behind common environmental concerns and, more importantly, the simple things young people can do to help.

Making sustainability part of everyday life

Designed for Grades 9 and 10 students, “Enna You Know!” tackles energy conservation, environmental sustainability, and climate action in a way that connects these big topics to situations students can actually encounter at home and in their communities.

For parents, this can also be a helpful reminder that environmental awareness doesn’t have to begin with complicated lessons. Simple habits such as switching off unused appliances, being mindful of water consumption, and making more sustainable choices can become part of a child’s everyday routine.

The series was developed by Knowledge Channel Foundation Inc. (KCFI) together with Schneider Electric Foundation, Schneider Electric Philippines, Makesense Asia, and the Department of Education (DepEd). It is part of Project Shaping Energy, an initiative that promotes energy literacy and sustainability education in public high schools.

KCFI Vice President Edric Calma highlighted the long-term value of helping young people develop both scientific understanding and appreciation for the environment.

“Ang investment po sa education, katulad ng mga ginawa nating video lessons na ito, ay makabuluhan at sustainable. Taun-taon, ilang mga bata ang matututo ng science nang maayos at magmamahal sa ating kalikasan dahil sa mga videos na ito,” he said.

Bringing environmental lessons closer to students

During the program’s launch, KCFI and its partners also turned over educational materials containing all four episodes to Science teachers from the DepEd Schools Division Office of Rizal.

With stories, conversations, and real-life situations serving as the starting point, “Enna You Know!” offers students an opportunity to see that caring for the environment isn’t something reserved for special occasions. It can begin with the choices they make every day.

For families looking for age-appropriate ways to introduce conversations about sustainability, the series can also be a good starting point for discussions at home: Where do we use the most energy? How can we save water? What small changes can our family make?

“Enna You Know!” airs every Wednesday, Thursday, and Sunday during the Grade 9 to 10 block on DepEd TV powered by Knowledge Channel, beginning September 16 at 4:00 PM, with replays at 10:40 PM.
