Pamamanhikan

I learned about this lovely Filipino tradition from a Sibika at Kultura book many years ago. The page had a simple illustration of family members eating together, with a young lady and a young man in the middle. Never imagined myself in the picture.

Now I have a photo of family members about to eat together, with a young lady and a young man in the middle. I know it’s hard to imagine this, but I’m the young lady in the middle. Experience, indeed, is the best teacher.

By the way, the book failed to mention that the beauty of the pamamanhikan comes from the promising bond between two loving families. I am thankful to have a growing family. The more, the merrier, indeed.  🙂
