With the specific prayer intention of having good weather on our wedding day (September 5, 2015) and on our vacation in Cebu, we visited the Monasterio de Sta. Clara along Katipunan Avenue in Quezon City.
Traditionally, saying a prayer for good weather on their wedding day has been part of the wedding preparation of many engaged couples. As donation, couples offer eggs wrapped in colorful cellophane.
Many say that the name of St. Clare has been associated with the word “clear”. Hence, people ask for her help when praying for clear skies, clear thinking or clear vision. The monks in Sta. Clara also prefer accepting eggs as donation because eggs have many uses.
So through St. Clare’s intercession, we asked the Lord to bless our wedding day with clear skies, as well as clear minds and hearts for everyone who will celebrate with us on our big day. 🙂

St. Clare of Assisi’s Story
The founder of the Order of Poor Ladies, St. Clare of Assisi was an Italian saint and one of the first followers of St. Francis of Assisi. She was born into a wealthy Italian family but soon shunned her luxurious upbringing to embrace the life of piety and poverty. Inspired by the words of Francis of Assisi, Clare fled her home and joined Francis, establishing her own religious order. The group became known for their austere and devout lifestyle and for the power of their prayer, which is credited with saving Assisi from invaders twice. After Francis’ death, Clare continued his work and broadened her own influence. Clare died in 1253 and was canonized two years later by Pope Alexander IV. (Source: http://www.biography.com)
