Just a few years ago, I was one of those wide-eyed millennial wanderers who were constantly on the lookout for seat sales and travel package promos. Together with my officemates or college buddies, I’d click that BOOK button without a care, file those unused vacation leaves, and travel like YOLO. You know? 😊
Well, those wide-eyed wanderers from 2010 are now (at least, most of those I know) certified millennial moms and dads. Today, booking a flight ain’t as easy as it used to. My travel buddies turned first-time mom friends will definitely agree. Now, if we wanna book a flight and resume being globetrotters, there’s a baby and/or a hubby that must go with the travel package.
While many young families love to travel, many first-time moms like me fret at the idea of having to carry the child throughout the trip. Especially because we were used to joining tours all on our own or with just our grown-up travel buddies, it’s understandable that young parents are a bit nervous when traveling with a baby or a toddler. Thanks to modern technology, strollers nowadays are designed to meet the needs of the modern family on the go.
My latest stroller discovery which I’d like to share with many of my fellow travel-loving parents is the YOYO stroller by French company Babyzen.
As a first-time mom, all strollers look the same to me, so I understand that many young parents find it hard to decide on what stroller they need for their child. So to give my fellow parents an easier time evaluating, I’ll highlight the features of this YOYO Stroller that made me say “Wow”.
Can be carried like a bag
All strollers in the market today promise portability. Of course, when you’re on the go, you’ll only want a travel gear that’s compact enough to be carried easily, so a portable stroller isn’t really new to me. But when I was told this stroller can hang on your shoulder like your usual mommy bag, I was immediately curious to see how a sturdy stroller can turn into a compact thing that can be worn like a shoulder bag.
I gave it a try, and my curiosity didn’t fail me. 😊
And since it can be carried like a bag, it obviously can fit in the closet, in the car compartment, or even in overhead storage bins of airplanes. FYI, YOYO stroller was the first stroller accepted as cabin luggage on Air France planes.
Can carry a baby and a toddler at the same time
The YOYO stroller has a range of accessories. My favorite accessory is the YOYO+Board. This accessory is perfect for parents with two kids already (a baby and a toddler). YOYO+ board connects to your YOYO+ stroller in a single one-hand click. It can carry a child weighing up to 20 kg. Your older child can safely hop onto the board, and either stand or sit on the easy-to-remove saddle, while your baby lies comfortable on the stroller.
A stroller and car seat in one package that can be used from birth to toddler years
Of course, millennial parents are practical. If we’ll buy stuff today, we make sure it will serve its purpose for a long while. Babyzen knew that so it designed the frame of the stroller in a way that it can be modified into three: a 0+ version suitable from birth to 6 months, the 6+ version for babies older than 6 months, and a car seat.
The 0+ version of the YOYO stroller comes with a totally flat carrycot, a 5-point harness, a 2-position pop up canopy, a foot cover and a headrest so baby can lie comfortably facing his or her parents. As baby matures, you can reconfigure the stroller into the 6+ version so you can let your growing baby sit up to face the road and discover the world.

The YOYO stroller is available at select Baby Company stores (Rockwell, SM Megamall, SM Aura), The SM Store (SM Megamall, SM Aura, SM Mall of Asia, SM North EDSA), Pottery Barn Kids (Central Square, Estancia), Mothercare (BGC, Greenbelt 5, Trinoma), The Mommy Mundo Shop, The Parenting Emporium, The Nest APH, and online at milkandhoney.ph and Qrius.ph.
Traveling with a child surely isn’t as easy as traveling when we were still single. But bringing along reliable travel gears like a stroller, we can still travel YOLO…. this time with our adorable little travel buddies. 🙂
