6 Tips for Creating Instagram-worthy Areas at Home

In the new normal, many of us do most of our day-to-day activities at home. Because we’ve been deprived of going to the beach or traveling to breathtaking places on Earth for almost 2 years, we barely have new photos for our photo-hungry Instagram page. Why wait for the next outdoor adventure when you can fill your IG with stunning photos of your home?

As much as we want to remain authentic content creators, the truth is that the pile of dirty clothes in the corner of our room isn’t really what our friends or followers want to see when they scroll IG. So give them something beautiful that’s worth their social media time. Here are some tricks on how you can turn your home into an IG-worthy subject:

Decluttering is key

Too many things on top of a table or shelf is a major NO-NO when it comes to ensuring the Instagram worthiness of your home. Before starting to repaint your walls, clean out your room and reassess which of your things are just clutter. Check any drawers and storage spaces, and remove the ones that you no longer use or need. Keep in mind that the minimalist vibe is in nowadays.

If you just can’t let go of so many things, consider using a cabinet with an elegant design to store your things. You’ll never go wrong with keeping your things organized inside a cabinet.

Prettify the walls

Giving your walls a new color is one of the ways to give your place an aesthetic boost. Clean and elegantly colored walls can brighten up any room. Before starting your repaint project, make sure to use a color chart/palette and search for design inspirations on the Internet.

Don’t forget to prepare the following items:

  • Paint brushes of different sizes
  • A paint roller with tray
  • Masking/electrical tape
  • Cloth or plastic covering for your existing furniture
  • A step ladder
  • Cloth for cleaning spills
  • Paint

If you’re not confident with your wall painting skills, go for a wallpaper, which you can simply stick on your walls for that much-needed makeover.

Spice up your wall with art

If you’re not keen on repainting your wall just yet, try adding an art piece to it. Regardless of who the artist behind it is, a painting can definitely make boring walls look Instagrammable. Whether you bought it or you made it yourself, hang that masterpiece on your wall to make your place more beautiful.

Beautify the floor

For Instagram-worthy wide shots of your home, a nice floor is essential. You can choose from a carpeted floor, laminated floor, or a tiled floor. If you do not wish to change the entire floor, you can simply add some rugs to accentuate your space.

Go for aesthetic yet functional furniture

Consider getting furniture that you can use to display and store items. For example, use a shelf as storage for plates and utensils you barely use. Display the pretty ones on top. Add a plant or two to make it an Instagrammable shelf.

You can also add a couch. While offering you or guests a place to relax, a couch will also give your place a relaxing vibe in an instant. Make it more IG-worthy by adding elegant covers or fluffy throw pillows. You can also maximize your space with a multifunctional bench with storage and a simple coffee table on its side.

Invest in lighting fixtures

Add a few standing lamps or lighting fixtures on shelves or tables for an additional accent. Just choose small to medium-sized lamps if you will be placing them on shelves. Choose a tall but simple floor lamp if you want to place it beside furniture. This way, your space will not look so crowded. You can also replace your existing lamps or bulbs with modern lighting fixtures that will give your place a cozy, minimalist look.

More than the goal of having nice indoor photos on Instagram, your home deserves to be beautiful simply because it is where you live. Regardless of the size of your place, there are so many ways to make your home clean, organized, cozy, comfy, and definitely…Instagram-worthy!
